ESAA National Formal Veteran Sweepstakes judged by Dave
Mates, Wed.
October 10th, 2007
In
the (formal) Veteran Sweepstakes, judged by Dave Mates, classes
are divided into 7-under 8 years, 8-under 9 years, 9-under 10
years, 11 years and over dogs and then bitches. The judge
goes over and moves all the contenders in each class, yet no
awards are made to any of the individuals in the classes.
After all the classes have been judged, all the classes are
brought back in the ring and then Best Veteran In Sweeps and Best
of Opposite Sex to Best in Veteran Sweeps are awarded.
Afterward, each veteran competing has its name and honors called
out and receives a rosette. Truly, this is a showcase for
how well our ES mature and are appreciated and cared for lovingly

Summer Wine proudly stacked and MOVING OUT! This dog is a
wonderful example of the inspiration a "senior" English
Setter can be. This spryand happy Englishman may not have won
the Sweepstakes, but he sure won full ringside appreciation and my
heart. And yes, I DO think that is a big grin on his face as he
motors around the ring. His owners, Lynn A. Amacher-Malm &
Margaret Steingart, and his breeders, Wanda Guitar & Margaret
Steingart are to be congratulated.
